Games to prove your strength in Braemar

Posted 1 year ago by jiro in response to avatar liquid's question: What are the prices to see the competitions in Braemar and when exactly do they take place? (give a different answer) .

On the first Saturday in September, the Duke of Fife Memorial park and Braemar Princess Royal park are crammed with spectators. The games include competitions for the "heavies", men that have powers out of the ordinary and come to show them to the world in such contests as "throwing the hammer", "putting the stone". My favorite is "tossing the caber", involving a 20 feet tree trunk that weighs over 130 pounds. Prices 9-17$.
