The Hogmanay parties, Edinburgh

Posted 1 year ago by pint in response to pinpen's question: What is that Hogmanay event celebrated feverishly in Scotland on December 31? (give a different answer) .

The climax is on December 31, but it lasts 3 days. It's Scotland's biggest party, translated as "Holy Month" if you admit the Anglo-Saxon origin, or as "New Morning' if you trust the Gaelic explanation. The thing is the city goes wild with street dances, pubs are full of people, and Scotch replaces water :) In the evening, dinners must consist of haggis, the mutton and oatmeal sausage, boiled in a sheep's stomach.
