I like going to the Elephant House (it's at George IV Bridge) every time I'm in town; not only for the good coffee (that start from ₤1.30) but also for the atmosphere: there are newspapers to skim through while your sipping your coffee and they serve delicious pastries. This is the place where JK Rowling is said to have written the first Harry Potter.
