You're right, you know? Even the word whisky comes from a Gallic expression meaning "the water of life"..:) Out of the 80 licensed distilleries spread throughout Scotland, 7 are placed on this route, must-sees being Glenlivet, Glenfiddich in Dufftown and Cardhu in Archiestown. Maybe it seems odd, but water is key in the producing process, along with the quality of barley grains and the amount of peat used in the fire. Don't exaggerate with the tastings!
