Osborne house on the Isle of Wight

Posted 1 year ago by jhon in response to avatar general's question: What did the royal family use the Osborne house (from Isle of Wight) for? And is it possible to visit it? (give a different answer) .

The Osborne House was Queen Victoria and Prince Albert's retreat from all the kingdom's problems. They came here, about 2 km away from East Cowes, to enjoy informal family dinners, when the 9 children of the couple used to cook. The house was built with the queen's money in 1845 and after her husband's death it remained unchanged, as Victoria ordered that everything should look like it did in his final days. It's open for visits Apr-Oct.
