My friend told me that he stayed in this very welcoming hostel, Embassie. It's on Falkner Square, eastwards from the Anglican cathedral but he said he could walk up to the centre. He paid about £13 for a dorm bed if I'm not mistaken. He also said something about having a TV lounge.
