On 2 Crouch End Hill there's the Downstairs at the King's Head, open Saturdays and Sundays. It's in a cosy and intimate room, quite crowded at times, but they often have some of the best acts in town here. And it's smoker-friendly :) There is an admission fee of about 7 pounds, if I remember well.
