The National Theater is my recommendation. They have both classic and modern plays here and the cast is usually brilliant. It's on South Bank and tickets cost from 10 to 34 £. If you'e a student, you can buy a stand-by ticket for 9 £ 45 minutes before the rise of the curtain.
