I was traveling with my girlfriend and we slept at the Backpackers' Hostel which is on Cromwell Road, about 2 miles south of centre. It cost us ₤12 each and we could always make our own dinner so it was pretty cheap. There was also a room with TV where we used to hang out before going to bed. They have double rooms available. If you're going by metro, get off at Stretford.
